Hello,
ReplyDeleteI want to take your opinion regarding velvet. I want to make velvet dresses and i am looking into the different kinds of fabric. I want something of good quality like cotton velvet. But still fabric needs to be very soft and silky. Could you help me with which direction to go and what to choose?
Hello Karla
ReplyDeleteYou need cotton velvet which is soft and silky?
Unfortunately cotton velvet has its limitations, it's usually a bit more stiff compared to silk/nylon or polyester micro velvet. If you still need cotton velvet, i suggest go for a weft knitted Velour. It's stretchable but it will give that extra bit of bounce to your dresses. Otherwise cotton velvet garments which are non stretchable and woven will have a stiffer stand to them.
Hope this helps.

ReplyDeleteDear Sanket,
Thank you for your reply. I am sorry i just saw this. What i exactly need is soft thin shiny velvet with a bit of lycra or stretch material. I need both crushed and normal. I want to start my own brand of tracksuits so i need all colors and in bulk. More important is the quality. I am trying to find indian based factories since im trying as much as possible to avoid chinese.
Do you supply any of this?
If not would you recommend any company that produce such high quality fabrics?
Waiting for your reply,
Thank you in advance.
Carla
Hello Carla
ReplyDeleteIn my honest opinion, Indian factories are not as experienced as Chinese factories especially in spandex/Lycra based velour.
Chinese have better qualities for polyester spandex, but generally indian factories are more adept at cotton fabrics. I could help you source Indian cotton spandex velour if you could give me an approximate quantity per color and technical specifications.
You could also look at Chinese suppliers, since we have been dealing with factories there for over 15 years without much issues.
Please write to me on my email address Shubhtexfabrics@gmail.com so I could reply you a little quicker.
Cheers
Sanket
